How easy is it to switch my existing suction cups to Piab cups? 

Fortunately, Piab can provide a wide variety of fittings to ensure that our cups will be a plug-and-play changeover, simplifying installations for our customers and distributors. This is especially true with our piGRIP® cup line, which are the most configurable suction cups on the market. Our applications engineering team is always ready to assist!

Why would one suction cup be better than another for lifting a product?

Unlike our competitors, Piab’s suction cups are engineered and purpose-built with specific aspects in mind. For example, when we realized a need for suction cups to be able to handle oily sheet metal, we engineered our friction cups – which come in a few different shapes but all rely on the same friction ‘pads’ to hold the metal without slippage. In instances where we’re picking non-oiled metal, however, we may recommend a different cup, since higher holding forces can be achieved per square inch with non-friction cups.

What diameter suction cup do I need for my application?

Given that there’s quite a lot that goes into deciding which size suction cup to use for certain applications, our go-to recommendation would always be to contact a Piab applications engineer for pump and cup sizing assistance.
